cover for 75 nautique

I bought one from Overtons about 6 years ago for the 76. It fits great and has held up very well. It is grey in color but I don't remember the brand or any other details. I think it cost around $200. ???

I put the new cover on last night and it does fit pretty good. The sharkskin is decent but the sunbrella is certainly much heavier material but double the cost. I will not tow with this cover without padding the corners of the windshield and reinforcing the tie down straps though. For a little over $200 I think this will be fine as when not in use my boat sits in a garage. If it was out in the weather I would have gone with the better cover though.

I wouldn't recommend towing with this cover unless you protect all the sharp corners especially the top corners of the windshield. I used an old heavy weight moving blanket and made some edge protectors to go over my windshield to protect the cover. I also made some that slip over the drivers and rear seats to protect them from chafing during a long time.

There was a thread a while ago about towing with a cover and most seemed to not do it but other than a 30 mile trip to the river I always tow covered.

If the weather is good, most wood boat owners will not trailer with a cover and risk scratching varnish. I even take it a step farther and will trailer in the rain. I'd rather have to just clean the boat than do a refinish! There are some however who will have their covers fleece lined!

I understand that thinking but I'm not worried about varnish. I towed 4 hours once without a cover and the boat interior was so full of road grime I'll never do it again.
