"Tally ho" actually comes from 17th century France ('taïaut') where it was shouted to round up the dogs to hunt deer.

In WWII, British pilots used it to radio that they spotted enemy aircrafts. It was also the motto of the famous WWII BRAF 609 squadron.

Nowadays it is also used in England during fox hunting.

Yeah John, I figured that much...

And the main kind of sandwiches Chantal sells are the submarine kind.
So, it will be just the logo whitout any slogan.

Thanks for the help, funny comments guys. And whatever you said Quinner and Donald

I could be wrong, but I think back in the Medieval days they would holler "Tally-ho-'ol chaps" as they were taking-off in their Yeerocopters.

But anyway, I've got it !

The better question is how is it pronounced. I say Ji-row, with a long I like in kite because I know how to read. But I think you get extra D-bag points if you pronounce it Yee-row.

Amazingly good considering like hot dogs, one simply does not want to know what goes into it.

I'd rather just grab a hot dog. Simpler. Less to go wrong.

Pete, I believe a "hero" is a regional name for a submarine sandwich or sub. a gyro ("yee - ro"} is a Greek item. Flat bread, folded around lamb with lettuce and tomato and some kind of creamy sauce. A favorite of mine....when done right.

Whenever I hear Club, I first think of a wooden baseball bat like object.   And, what's a Gyro ?   Is a Gyro just another spelling of Hero ?
And, I like a good slogan, it helps correlate the product to the memory.

How bout:   Dive into Tally's Subs, (and then maybe something clever about Periscopes)
Or:   Why Tally's Subs? - Because Jimmy Johns is Freaky Fast and Subway is just plain Freaky.

I left the whole subs vs clubs thing alone, thinking we don't necessarily know what that call what kind of sandwiches in Belgium, but if they are just using words they hear on American TV shows, maybe we need to clarify to Kristof what Hollywood is saying and why mixing subs and clubs doesn't make sense. Kristof, over here any way, a "sub" is a "submarine" sandwich. Long role. Also called grinder, hero. A "club" is typically a multi-layer sandwich (i.e top bread-bottom bread and typically a slice in the middle, of regular flat slices of bread, with meat and lettuce and tomatoes, spread out in the two layers. So pretty much different than a "sub". Hence, Hollywood's comments on we're not really turning subs into clubs.

I would avoid 'ordinary' altogether.

'Where Sub meets Club'

Or better yet -

The whole club sandwich thing reminds me of a classic Mitch Hedberg routine about sandwiches. You could say: "If you love a great sandwich, join our club"

Thanks for the input guys!

Well, the slogan was just me playing around (because in Belgium they will only know what subs are due to the fact that they heard that from the Subway shops here and people know the word 'club sandwich' from TV shows or movies)... We would just go for the logo.

And on the subject of quality and price. Chantal's shop exists for about 21 years now and she is renowned for her quality (and fair prcies for that matter). So that is covered

It's just that after so many years, we need to fresh up the whole concept a bit... Bring it to the USB 3.0 version

If you're gonna go with a slogan I like this one better than what you have IMHO.

Just like any Mom and Pop sandwhich shop the great service and how good the food is will sell the business. Most times that I have found, it's the little hole in the wall restaurants that have the best food in town.

Best of luck Chantal!

I have owned a wholesale meat company for 38 years. The guys that were successful made a great sandwich for a good value, "slogans" did not matter. Quality. Quantity and price. And believe it or not, "price" did not mean cheap, it meant fair value. Good Luck with it!

a tally can also be a tick mark or incremental numbering tool, so you could play on that, something like, where the sandwiches always get full marks. or, taste the high score. or, a delicious notch above the rest.
