last night i changed the oil in 68 mustang,
didnt like the nestle bunny draining out of the engine. hoping just head gasket but why would it run so good with that problem? got to dark to check oil again, will do that after work. but what a pain in the ass, seems you always spend the first half of summer fixing everything then its time to pull for the winter. sad in indiana fredo68

I hope it's not what I went through 7 years ago. The boat ran perfect but water in the oil. It started in July, it didn't run hot. I changed everything, heads, intake even timing chain cover, still water in the oil. My cuz said I must have a casting flaw in the block that has finally cracked after all these years and that's what it was.

Perhaps the plug in the drain hose wasn't as tight as i should have been? Sitting in the bilge water, the first bit of oil draining could have been comtaminated with water. Did the oil on the dipstick look bad?

You can hope for the best but if it were me I would want to know for sure where that water came from, and I would go looking. Unless the boat had a lot of water in the bilge for some reason lately something is gone wrong and you want to know what that something is sooner than later.

gentlemen
i posted this 4 days ago. the plugs show no moisture, the oil is staying clean with no water. ive run the boat on a hot lap every day since the oil change. here in indiana weve had some pretty hard rains and bilge got pretty full a couple of times. yes the oil on the dipstick looked really bad before i changed it and so did the filter. after putting about 4 hours on the new oil with no water in oil- im stumpped! fredo68 |

Well I guess it really doesn't matter unless it comes back, but after 4 hours of operation you should be ok. It could have been condensation for sitting a long time, high water level in the bilge, loose drain hose plug, leaky exhaust manifold. Just keep an eye on it and enjoy and be glad it wasn't anything major so far.

and just used the dexron seems just fine. |

If there is enough water in the motor, it will end up on the top of the valve covers. (on the inside)
