Like when people ask if you ski naked hollywood and you say "alot" . Base stock oil price that they use to blend with has risen quite a bit in the last few years,

Talk about nonsensical.

The flavor of VR1 commonly discussed on ccf and specifically linked in this thread is a conventional oil.

There seems to be some confusion about synthetic and synthetic blends which have no relevance in this thread.

Are you talking about conventional valvoline, syn blend or full synthetic Their is a big difference. Conventional oil is going by the way side even in OEM applications to be able to give better warranties. I don't even use it in my generator that calls for sae 30. it runs better and cooler on synthetic So much confusion or Man you guys should see the deal on ATF ! Better change that transmission oil too!!!

SYNTHETIC OIL:

"Synthetic oil is a lubricant consisting of chemical compounds that are artificially made. Synthetic lubricants can be manufactured using chemically modified petroleum components rather than whole crude oil, but can also be synthesized from other raw materials. The base material, however, is still overwhelmingly crude oil that is distilled and then modified physically and chemically."

Note the statement regarding "base material". It's make from dino oil!!

Peter,
Yes there is plenty more to the story and thanks for the links. However, you are late to the party and aren't following. BTW, who made natural gas?

Change it once & be done with it!

The proven FACT is that you do not have to change Motor Oil for up to:

    15 years
    150,000 miles
    3,000 engine run hours

If you use:

SynLube™ Lube−4−Life®

The FIRST Oil you do NOT change !
