Thanks all.

I'll do a check this holiday to determine the mystery wires lol.

Page 16 comes directly from Warner, I contacted them and they shot it over to me.

Chris,
Check to see if the indicator light is wired to ground or +. Just because you found a wiring diagram in the Walter manual, doesn't mean the light was wired that way by CC.

Good job, where'd you find page 16?

Red to ground doesn't seem to pass the "sanity check" though.

Thanks Walters V Drive Page 16

Assume that the light blue to the dash and red to ground?

I get dizzy looking at the picture, but like Pete said, low oil pressure warning light on the dash gets fed from that switch if I'm looking at the picture right

Here's a link to the v drive manual
Walters v drive manual

Unfortunately the page with the wiring diagram doesn't seem to be there

Chris,
I don't feel that's your NSS. The NSS would be on the trans and not the Walters V drive. Someone will be along who knows more about the Walters but I'd say it's the pressure sender for the Walters. The light blue up to the dash would be to the warning light and the red would be the "hot" + to the switch.

That is the neutral safety switch. One wire goes to the key switch and one goes to the starter relay.

Thanks all for the help and guidance. I got the boat turned over and winterized it (boo!).

Attached are the actual instructions for the kit from PCM for future reference.

However, I did run into a wire that I need to connect up.

It is near the Vdrive area and the light blue wire goes towards the interior dash and I am trying to find out where this red wire goes to, any thoughts?

Where does the red wire go from this picture?

That's way too much typing for us old simple minded guys that don't particularly like typing to begin with Hollywood

correctcraftfan coil mount   in a Google search gets the same results without quotes or slashes or any of that stuff.

Anyone have pictures of the coil/resistor location mounts from the electronic ignition kit as well as the bracket that goes towards the back where the 50 amp breaker is?

Thanks

Per the following you need a CCW starter: ARCO tech tips

Starter PN 70201 is a CCW starter: ARCO Starters

The starter on the NP website is an ARCO 70201 and is the correct starter.

Not that it shouldn't eliminate your problem but it sounds like you are just shotgunning parts. Was your engine cranking over? Although, I guess it doesn't really matter at this point.

So that's what is pictured on the left I assume. The URL says LH. Like you said, the RH item he found should have a RH gear on it (despite the picture) and will drop right in. I think we confirmed a while back all the engines in the v-drive Barefoot & Excels were RH.

Electronic distributor kit for REVERSE Rotation (Right Hand) Motors. PCM# RK107026A

That would be the right one and you wouldn't have to worry about doing gear swaps that can sometimes be not terribly straightforward

So is the gear on the left on a distributor you purchased and the gear on the right out of your protec? The link above says RH but the picture of the distributor has a LH gear on it.

Hollywood, go to post #3 in this thread and you'll see the web address for the distributor he bought. Not a link there but the web address is right there.

I'm tending to agree with Pete on getting some help BUT make sure it's someone who understands that a 351 like the one in your boat can and does rotate backwards from a normal 351 in an automotive application.

The little diagram you have is good for cylinder locations and firing order, but you need to have #1 at Top Dead Center on the compression stroke and the rotor can be pointed at any tower on the cap. That tower is where #1 is,(you can aim it wherever you want) That's the hard part to understand and try to explain to someone. Then you work counterclockwise around the cap following the reverse rotation firing order. And you'll need a timing light because the initial installation will get you close enough to run it and then use the light to set the timing right.

It's harder to try to explain it, than to actually do it like Duane in Indy mentioned previously

I have to return the wrong rotation ones to Nautique.

The teeth on your old shaft tell everything you need to know. It's reverse rotation

You bought the correct starter and the wrong distributor.

You have a Reverse rotation engine, you bought a reverse rotation starter.if it's what your link shows...............KEEP IT, it's the right one. If that's not what you bought and you are going to buy that one, then yes buy the one in the link since it's for a reverse rotation engine

You bought a normal rotation distributor.................exchange it for the reverse rotation version you mentioned earlier.

Where do I need to connect this up to? There was also a light blue wire connected to the old Protec harness that unplugged from the harness.

PCM Owner Engine Manual

The wiring diagram for your engine is on page 51 of the manual. In order to remove the Pro-tec you should have only needed to disconnect the trigger plug and the EMS connection. The neutral safety switch is wired to the wire harness plug but does not go to either of the Pro-tec parts. I would print out the wiring diagram and then use it to verify what wires you are cutting/disconnecting. It's pretty easy to follow. We can also use the same terminology from the diagram to walk you through it.

It should be bolted to the intake manifold. I'm not a v-drive protec expert. TRBenj, Air206 or velde99 would know for sure.
