Interesting it came from NH originally. I only dealt with NECC a few times, they were about an hour from me.

I was talking to a friend about my '63 a few months ago, describing the boat to him. He said "that must be valuable". I explained that actually it was nearly worthless on the open market, but to me it's priceless. He got that, the value of these older boats isn't dollars, it's a value the owner understands. I truly think that if I ever move on from the boat I'll give it away to the right person, not sure I'd feel right about selling it.

Very nice when you can do something for work that you actually enjoy!

David, It's a 16 1/2 foot boot. Thanks, for the compliment. I puposely transferred to Delta's Engine Composite shop for this very reason. Knew I was gonna find an old boat some day that was gonna need some work or if I needed to repair the one I already owned. Best move I ever made career wise as it's paid off into something I enjoy doing after " I do my 8 then hit the gate!"

Art pulled the build sheet for me and the 1200 you are offering doesn't even cover what New England CC paid for it back itn 72.

Tim, the boat looks absolutely fantastic! You do amazing work.

Since '72 Mustangs generally sell for about 1,200 bucks on Craigslist, I'm willing to offer you that right now for Kermit. Don't make me wait, I might drop the offer.

Is a '72 Mustang a 16 1/2 ft. or 17 ft. boat?

As a matter of fact, I did have one of those green vinyl vests, but it wasn't for me it was my wife's. Not sure what came of it. But I do have a copy/replacement of my orange AWSA vest that I bought in maybe 1972. My original was blown to atoms when I was teaching myself to barefoot, but I picked this one up recently just for the memories. Its a little snug for me now, but next time I am going to be in the same place as Hollywood, I am going to bring it along for him to use, since he really appreciates my vintage stuff.

Tim, the spare tire mount was made by a bud of mine here at work who welds up fixtures, stands etc for the engine mtc depts. Plenty of scrap metal lying round to use.

Thanks for the compliments guys..... It's a fun boat to drive for sure and isn't that bad to ski behind really.

Pete, actually, I have a friend who wants to give me her late husbands (and Fraternity Brother of mine I was close with) GREEN high top Converse tennis shoes. I'll be sporting those before too long.

Will try and get a green bikini shot with the boat in the water sometime this summer just to add that little extra added touch.

That's just awesome Tim. I got to ski behind that boat several years ago when Godfather had it which was a really amazing experience. I can only imagine that it's even better now.
When people run down to the lake to see what's making that noise, you've succeeded.

I must ask, was this putting in or pulling out (post XX Morfoot consumptions)?

I would have thought you'd push the tire before the 4 way bolted loop, unless you maxed that out first and then went the loop...

Craig,
The hardest part of any gel repair or hole fill is matching the gel color. Even if you got gel to match the original, chance are high that it won't match. I know that even pro glass guys will tint OEM gels. I suggest starting at the snap holes that you can see the least and see how close you can get with the color. The black shouldn't be too bad. It's the deck that will be hard. Backing depends on how big the hole is. Small holes may only need a piece of tape. Bigger ones that are deep, you can back up or even carve a piece of wood to fit from the back.

Has anyone done this on here? Just curious if there is any tricks to it. I want to get a new cover for our Sport and get rid of all the snaps. Already removed the tower mounts so those holes are there too. I assume you need to put a backer in the hole to prevent resin from just going through to the inside.

Wow you guys are tough!

Me thinks I turned a little tight with Dads truck at the Ruckus and adjusted the Bow stop with the bumber on the spare tire carrier. I winged the adjustment when the boat was off the trailer and in the river. I'll have to fix it later. Y'all picked up on the crooked stuff and not the scraped paint?

Time will tell how the oil based paint holds up on the vinyl.

HW....I posed the same question to a couple of the guys about removing the snaps and filling in the holes with Gel. I don't see me getting a cover with snaps so I indeed will remove them.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I really love the transformation. Looking forward to getting him out and turning some heads.

Windshield looks awesome. The boat looked good before but really shines now. Removing the snaps and filling the holes included in this?

(Tim saw my windshield and decided he needed one just like it. A little rarer, I think. I think the unpainted ones were only on the 76 tique, but I could be wrong.)

Was driving Kermit pulling Morfoot slalom, no observer, legal with mirror.
Making tight turn to port u-turn in small cove. Our other skiing buds were on a boat, anchored, to our starboard side as i made the turn. Out of the corner of my eye I see Alan Tetaly throw a football, from the anchored boat, toward Morfoot.
Well, I am concentrating on driving, and not damaging Kermit or Morfoot..
Damn if Morfoot doesn't catch that football.
That was a great catch! And throw!
Kermit drives great indeed!
