A friend of mine has a 1992 Ski Nautique with a Pro Boss 351. Unlike my GT40 which has a distributor, her Pro Boss has eight individual coils. We think one might be dying and I was wondering how you go about testing them. I was thinking of getting a timing light to see if each coil is firing, but if there are other measurements, etc. that we should do, that would be great. It seems to idle fine, but misses horribly during pull up, and we don't think all eight start firing.

Thanks,

Gordon

Pete will chime in. There are some Ohm tests for things like that that I am not extremely familiar with but he is.

Sounds like the Pro-Tech coil packs are failing, one sure way to fix is the conversion kit from Ski-Dim, think it's about $500 these days.

Hey turd stain. I have the kits too and offer 10% off ha.

Also, like Quinner suggested, if you want something reliable and long lasting I would move away from the original protec design. It does some funky stuff with timing anyways.

I'm with "turd stain". The system isn't worth messing with. Get a conversion from Zach!!
