Thank you for posting the color, code and link. Appreciate that.
You did very nice work on that boat, takes talent to reach that level of finish.

Should still be an available color combo

The "Tangerine" is a Lily Ram product.  https://www.lillyram.com/documents/ColorChartRev.pdf

We ordered a 5gal bucket.

Dan, the tangerine we used was a stock color we found from a mfg and had it shipped to us. It was a great match and we didn’t care if it was 100%. We bought a 5gal bucket and still have some in the fridge. I think I have the gel sample card and will try to post. On the road working this week.

Nice boat, glad you got all the kinks out of the engine and it is running great for you.  My 78 Nautique had straight pipes on it.  I loved the sound but I was young then, that bolt sold in 1989 I think.   Today I push for more quiet.   On your leak I might consider the 5200 over the 4200.   The 5200 sets up very hard and strong might make a tougher seal against your leak.

Glad to hear it's running well!  What is the length of your boat, is that a 16 1/2' hull?  47 is getting near ejection speed. Smile

Still seems to be running well.  Changed the oil at 10hrs.   Had break-in oil and now have Mobil 1 15w50.  Note: This thread is not an oil debate.

47mph on an app on my iphone running an ACME 1210.  If anyone has a used ACME 1210, we could use a second one.  Or if anyone has a good 12x14 prop for a great deal we would think about that too.  The prop that came on this was out of round and don't think it is worth having fixed.

We are going to try to 4200 the crack/seam where the hull meets the top cap from the inside of the boat.  I tried last winter while the rub rail was off and it was very tight and obviously didn't work well.  We are getting water in the boat when turning or going over wake.  Bought a flexible spout/hose to attach to 4200 caulk tube.  We will see.

Good to know. If I ever run across 3” copper tubes cheap might switch just for looks and coolness factor

Have had several muffler-less boats and can confirm skiing behind the loud ones for long durations on a regular basis can suck! I don’t put them on my 16’ toys but boats doing heavy pulling duty all get them. Been there, done that.

The difference is not huge from the drivers seat, can be noticed a little more from the back seat. Where the difference is really noticed is behind the boat and from shore- if youre looking to alert your neighbors then deleting mufflers will do the trick! Can confirm that the more metal in the exhaust track, the louder the results. Compression ratio is also a factor, as is exhaust manifold material (cast iron seems to dampen a little more). The little boats do sound great with straight pipes for sure.

I've found mufflers are a little quieter, but only noticed when sitting in the back seat.  I haven't put them side by side, but haven't noticed any difference between copper, stainless steel and all rubber. I once had a guy from CT tell me he wouldn't ski behind a boat without mufflers as it would hurt his ears.  A gross exaggeration.

Our ski tique has fiberglass mufflers. I thought the pipes would be significantly louder. I can’t tell but haven’t had them side by side. Plus those old mufflers may only be glass pipes at this point. Haven’t had rubber hose. Others can prob answer your question better.

Well done. Beautiful job. Your bildge is very nice.
I’m curious if you can tell straight metal pipes are louder than rubber 3” hose.   Bet sounds great
Enjoy

Take 2...Other than a prop issue, we put her in the water and ran all weekend.  Felt good to get this one running.  Thanks to all who fielded questions over the process...special thanks to Keno, Zach and Tim, sorry for my texts when things were going wrong...much appreciation for the responses. And to Reid for selling this one to us, we wanted to join the orange boat club.  It threw curve after curve and took triple the time we were hoping but it turned out well.  Still some odds and ends to tackle but hoping to get to enjoy it this summer.  If anyone is ever on Badin Lake, stop by and say hello.

After getting the engine back from machine shop, we had to touch up the paint.

Put the accessories back on...

Back in the boat.

On the way to the lake...

No top speed yet, but she isn't slow.  All stock, so my guess will be 47.

Picked up the engine this morning.  Balance was off.  They fixed.  We are hoping to start reassembly of external parts tomorrow evening.  Fingers crossed.  Slight chance it hits the water this weekend but weather isn't looking too good.

Been a tough couple of weeks/months in regards to the Skier.  Got the engine in and had a very bad vibration at around 2000rpm.  We troubleshot everything we could (unbalance weights, disconnect tranny, run on engine stand, etc etc.).  Long story short the engine shop has it back apart and we are waiting on a call.  Always something with this one.
