there is no tag for the engine and I am having problems wether my motor is a 302 or 351. does anybody have an idea where else I could tell which one it is. please help

The casting numbers on the block and heads should tell you.

The intake Manifold on a 351W is a lot wider than a 302. If you measure the width of yours someone here should be able to compare it to theirs.

Someone good with engines should be able to tell by looking. You could post a picture here, but it might be somewhat difficult to tell without seeing in person.

The 351 is about 11 inches across from the inner edges of the valve covers (where the heads meet the block)...302 is about 9 inches across.

Depending on the year, the 351 also has an oil cooler that the 302 does not have.
