there is no tag for the engine and I am having problems wether my motor is a 302 or 351. does anybody have an idea where else I could tell which one it is. please help

The casting numbers on the block and heads should tell you.

The intake Manifold on a 351W is a lot wider than a 302. If you measure the width of yours someone here should be able to compare it to theirs.
Someone good with engines should be able to tell by looking. You could post a picture here, but it might be somewhat difficult to tell without seeing in person. |

The 351 is about 11 inches across from the inner edges of the valve covers (where the heads meet the block)...302 is about 9 inches across.

Depending on the year, the 351 also has an oil cooler that the 302 does not have.
