hello all, I just bought a 1975 nautique and was wondering if the boat is any good for barefooting? I belive it has a 302 in and im a hefty falla at 270 lbs. Is the gunnel strong enough to support a barefoot boom...thanks Chris

Gunnel should be strong enough for the boom as long as there are no structural problems with the boat. I am not sure if the 75 SN had a 302 or a 351. Either way it should get to footing speed for you. You may have to lighten up on the amount of gear and passangers in the boat.

Chris, The 3500 is about 1000 too low. You will want to find a portable shop tach and check yours. Chances are the boat has a 351 in it. If it is propped correctly, you should get about 10 MPH per 1000 RPM. IE: 30 at 3000 or 40 at 4000.
Find out what prop is on the boat too and post what it is. How about posting some pictures of the boat??

Chris; Welcome...get those pics up.

As to the '75...my brother had a '76 and we used it to foot alot. Pulled many a multiple run with way more than 270lbs. Used a boom on my '78 for many a hour...so if the boat is solid as 87BFN suggested you should be good to go.
