THAT'S what is making the shiny spots! I did some Google satellite recon and it has been sitting out uncovered, but when I did BING Birdseye overhead shots it was not sitting in the field, those overheads were dated 2012. I still think it is safe to say it has spent its most recent years, out & uncovered. Definitely salvageable though.

I don't think it looks THAT rough. The weeds are buffing the sides of the hull, so half the work is already done

May be damage on the starboard hull below the helm, tough to tell from pics. All the chrome goodies appear to be intact. Opening bid is $20, no idea where the reserve is.

Posted this in the "other" ebay thread, I never know where to put these things anymore...

BonFire? Roasting marshmallow's Then..
If I decide to restore a wood boat it will be a Lauterback or some other classic conventional Hydro. Just pokin a little at the floating furniture. My bid has already been eclipsed by a dollar.

Jody,
If in fact this Century is truly documented as a 42, then you may want to reconsider your rather abrupt idea of just parting the boat out.

Jody,
If you win, you're going to need a chunk of mahogany, gauges. paste grain filler and some spar!

Then a couple years from now, a good Lovett 6 volt bilge pump and even more mahogany when the bottom rots out from the inside due to the glass job.

BTW, I looked up "Mutt" in the ACBS directory. It is listed and at the time of the listing is owned by a Dean Adams out of Quincy Michigan.

Look at what was done to the dash!! If this boat was at a judged event and I was making the "rounds", I would take a quick look and just walk by. Plus, the bottom has the "kiss of death" - it's been glassed!!! Again, It does not surprise me that he now needs to try and sell the boat on ebay.

I recently bought a pair of skis and the seller paid more for UPS to wrap and box them up than the auction went for, not including the actually shipping charge.

Chris - That's the same boat that Jo-e just asked about. Interior is shot, sounds like the rest of the boat is too.

Check out this ad I saw posted on PN, sure sounds like a scam to me.

Boat is in Ill, yet has AZ tags, low sale price, BS throughout the description including HP and speed claims and then his saying boat has not been winterized in 2 yrs and cover destroyed from snow = outside storage = block would be toast if true.

Pete,
BINGO!

He changed to that description after I sent an initial friendly email telling him he was wrong about the Chevy and it is actually a Rambler/AMC.

I and a friend of mine have each emailed the guy twice now telling him that Chevy and AMC were to completely different companies. In the last email I sent I asked him if he had manuals/or had ever wrenched on either? I told him I have and NO parts will interchange.

His response is below........

Dear kten72,

amc is chevy blocks. have manuals. 283 and 327 manufactured
by gmc
....................................................................

...hmmmmmm,...."amc is chevy blocks" .... maybe he should ACTUALLY USE a manual! he would also find out the AMC is a 287, Not a 283.

Really doesnt matter a 1500 bucks , chances are it aint goin nowhere.

Pete, that looks like one of the larger wood (17'-18')ski boats they made such as the Tournament Skier, Aqua Skier or maybe as he says American Skier. Too bad he's done what he's done as the larger late model wood boats are really rare.
