The steering wheel on my 1998 Nautique, the shaft is sloppy it moves up and down a bit. Anything I can do to correct this.

The actual shaft the wheel slides on to is sloppy. Is there a way to tighten it. Is it the shaft with splines.

1998nautique, You are going to have to take it apart and inspect it for worn bearings/ bushings. If the wear is on a shaft and a replacement is not available then Loctite makes some great stuff for worn shafts. Pete

change this part is ultimate.

it loose because a plastic bushing of the steering shaft wore.disasemble the steering base,you will find this wore part,if you find a substite to replace it,you will make it better.
