I have a 1976 Ski Nautique w a 351W. I am looking for a new thermostat housing, thermostat, and gasket. Can someone please point me in the right direction where I can find these parts.

Jason,
Who's marinization is the engine? It may make a difference. What's up with the T stat housing? Welcome to CCfan. Is the boat new to you? |

I have owned the boat since 1997. It has been in storage for the past 10 years and rebuilding the motor now. How do I post pictures. Maybe someone could help if they could see what i am looking for.
thanks, |

Jason,
For picture posting, use the "post reply" and not the "quick reply". Click on the icon of the tree with the up arrow. The box that comes up will allow you to browse your computer. Was there a ID tag on the engine showing who did the marinization? Again, what's up with the T stat housing? Was this engine used in salt water? |

I am going to look at the engine tomorrow. I just did a rebuild with new heads and the machine shop never touched the thermostat or housing. I might be able to clean up the housing but still need to find the thermostat and gaskets. thanks |

Nothing wrong with that housing. Either take it someplace and get it blasted and painted or hit it with a wire brush and paint it. Not a big deal.
Gaskets and thermostat can be acquired from N3 or SkiDim. I'll reserve comment on why the shop didn't touch it. The detail of the rebuild is vague and we have no idea what was agreed upon by both parties. |

When people run down to the lake to see what's making that noise, you've succeeded.

Jason,
I agree with Eddie that that housing is fine. Some draw filing of the gasket surfaces and it will work like new. I don't recognize the housing but maybe another member will. I even went to Skidim looking at T stats and gaskets. None of their pictures showed a gasket that matches the pattern, Could your engine be a Waukesha marinization? Do look for the ID tag. I doubt it will come down to it but, you could cut the gaskets yourself and take the housing to an auto supply to see if they can match a T stat to it. Before that, look for that ID tag hopefully finding the marinizer. Then, at the top of the page is N3's banner. Click on it, get their phone # and give Zack a call. Yes, as Eddie mentioned, the engine rebuild is vague. It sounds like a shop did the heads and you're doing the rest? Fill us in. Now that you have the picture posting figured out, how about some pictures of the boat? A diary entry is always welcomed too. |

Looking at the alternator placement Escort is a possibility. I hadn't found a gasket for Escort yet. Waukesha is not likely due to alternator being opposite which I'm willing to bet a Waukesha tstat housing is same as PCM.

Todd,
You may be correct on the Escort however, it doesn't look familiar to me. I've got the 302 Escort in the Tique. I'll have to get down to the boat house and uncover it to take a look. I've been meaning to see how the boat's are doing down there anyway. The water was still liquid when I was there last! |

Pete, I don't quite recognize the housing either but I think I've only worked on mine once. Tom Seacamper's Escort in his 75 has some unfamiliar to me stuff. I wonder if they made changes come 76?

By the time he finds his hat and gloves, laces up his mickey mouse boots and puts on his two jackets, it will be too dark to shovel his way down to the boat house Todd-----

Gary,
I didn't have to go down there. Look what I found in my Photobucket account! Looks like Jason's got an Escort! You can just see the top of the housing with the two bolt heads out the top. You'd think as many times I've winterized that thing, I'd remember what the T stat housing looked like! BTW Gary, we don't have that much snow for me to have to shovel may way to the boat house! |

Jason,
Where you able to confirm you have an Escort? Any luck finding a T stat? How about an update? |
