thanks for the replies, have had another look and it appears the thread on the thru bolt in the cup is stripped- assume it was over tightened at some point- am going to remove bolt and put chemical metal in the hole- hopefully creating new thread and packing out the space between the cup and the pole. hopefully this will do the trick

The ski pole question is great because I have one to throw in there and thats why is our 74 M17 pylon smaller in diameter and fits VERY loose in the floor sleeve, while the 76 M17 is larger and Very tight-doesnt move at all no matter what...???

I think it was David F who posted advice about how to tighten up the pylon. If you do a "Ski Pylon" search on this sight you should find it. It involves expoxy, some wax, and well . . . it looks like a good idea. Something I'll be trying out next week.

My pole wobbles. I figured they all do. I don't see how you can make them removable and not wobble some. I could be wrong. But if it does not wobble wouldn't you have to drive it in with a hammer?

Hi, has anyone ever experianced a loose ski pole? the 2 U bolts are tight but the pole seems to be piveting against them- only by a millemeter or so. its a little hard to see but i think its the cup that the pole sits in thats moving- does anyone know how this is fixed to the boat and if it could become loose?
