Your bilge pump should have a float switch next to it.. In the manual mode it is simple pump on or off, used for emptying water while the boat is occupied. The auto mode is for pumping out the boat when it is not being attended to, like an overnite tie up or folks that leave their boat in the water all the time. In auto mode the pump will kick on when the water level inthe bilge raises the float switch high enough.
You can’t change the wind but you can adjust your sails

Usaually the ignition does not need to be on if the switch was wired correctly easiest way to find out use a test light or better yet open dog gog house lift float switch by hand you should hear the bilge kick in if the switch is on auto and wired correctly
