Making slow but steady progress. Came across the thread on Vondy's 1969 Mustang Stringer Rebuild - pretty much covers everything I am doing, so thanks to everyone that contributed advice that I am recycling.

Here's a shot of the stringers with floor braces covered in epoxy paint and 5200'd to the stringres. Still tacky after 3 days. How long should it take for 5200 to dry with my garage temp at 55 deg?

Going through boxes of junk parts that came with the boat I was happy to see these. Wedges are for the front - need to make new ones but good to have these for patterns. Flat shims look to have been used for the transmission mounts.

Installed the strut to check alignement with the log. So far everything looks pretty good but my cutlass bearing is so worn out I'm not sure I can tell for sure, so will install a new one and check again. The strut bolts are much longer than needed as if there should be a wood block glassed in. Am I missing something here?

Looking good Phil. Going to put her in this year? Your bolts look extra long,my Mustang has no wood there either,I suppose you could trim them off. Check Vondy's thread or maybe Pete will see this,on his recommendation Vondy got some cast wedges from someone.

Phil,
Look'n great!!

The 5200 is a moisture cure and really doesn't depend on temperature too much. In really dry conditions, it can take a week to set up. Spritzing water on it will speed it up.

Give Ted a call at 847 395 8902 and see if he has any of the cast wedges left. I think Alan got some from him for the Hurricane. If not, use the old ones like you are thinking and make some out of White Oak. There's nothing wrong with the wood. The cast are just a little bit easier to use.

I'd just leave the strut bolts as is. I think CC got a big batch of surplus bolts that were too long back then!!

What about using a home humidifier and just put that in the garage to speed up the process? Most households up north have one of those lying around somewhere right?

From what ive seen the older mustangs/skiers didnt have a backer board for the strut but cc added one later on. I added a piece of 3/4 ply when I did mine.

Hi Pete - Thanks for the tip on the 5200. I'll give it a try.

Gary - I hope to at least get the boat running this summer but probably will be next year to have the interior complete.

Here's what the raw water pump looks like inside. Will need to order new impellers - does anyone have a good source for these? I'm hoping they are somewaht universal.

Measurements are approx 2 1/2 dia, 1 1/4 wide, 5/8 shaft with key. Looks like I can get these at Jamestown Dist for $39 ea.

Phil, that sure looks like a Sherwood pump... Are you sure it doesn't take the same impeller as your 97?

Do not get generic impellers..... I have learned that lesson from SJRR 2010 on the Skylark

That looks like a good price- but give Jody a shout at Florida Inboards. I bought like 4 at once and he gave me a deal..

Might try Zach at N3 also...

Hi Tim,

You are right they are the same. Now that's convenient.

Marty - I just ordered them from Jamestown and they are a Sherwood part number.
