The kids are grown and now use their own boats for skiing. It was time to dump the Malibu and buy a Classic. After a year search we found a '68 Skylark in the shape and price range we were looking for. The boat has fresh paint, a fresh 300 cu in Buick, the stringers are tight and most of the original equipment is there, it just needs put back together.
I have been lurking here for almost a year and would like to thank everyone who I have gleaned information or checked your ads anonymously, I look forward to becoming and active part of this site. Keith Mc |

Congratulations on the purchase. Always liked the old Mustangs and Skylarks, ever since my dad brought home a NEW 66 Mustang.
Family's 66 Mustang - July 1971 photo Funny the appeal of the old boats, isn't it. I'm sure you had a very nice Malibu. The new boats are incredible: great looks, ride, performance, comfort, skiability. But it seems that all you need is a gazillion dollars or no fear of being in debt up to your ears to have one. To have one of the older boats seems to take a little more heart and soul. I'm not knocking new boats or their owners. But don't you think to yourself when you pull up alongside one of them in your classic that, yeah thats a nice boat, but it sure isnt one of these. (really this isnt sour grapes, however, I guess I have to confess that if I was that lucky schlep that just won the 300 million lottery, I might consider going out and buying a nice new 06 SN...to tie up along side the 75 tique) Any way, enjoy your new boat 68, and post some pics for us all to join in your pleasure. |

Great picture of the Mustang. Looks just like mine right down to the yellow paint! I love my old 16' boat and although the family loves the brand new 196 SN we still ski, wakeboard, wakesurf etc out of the old boat as well.
I'm addicted to the driving feel and noise of the Mustang. |
