Lots in the news lately about changes to gasoline. Especially the addition of 10% ethanol. I recall there being a class action for boats with plastic or fiberglass fuel tanks (can remember which).

Anyway I ran into something you all might want to know about. Check your carb and make sure it has the stock brass screws for the float bowls. I've found that the new gas seems to attack the clear sight plugs that are sometimes used to replace the brass screws in an effort to ease float level adjustments.

It's probably unlikely to see them installed on boats but it would be good to double check anyway. I had some on my carb and the gas seems to have attacked them and one had started leaking a little.

I've used these clear plugs for years on steet and drag cars and never had a problem until now. Time to return to the brass plugs!
