Been using Wal-Mart, etc, covers for years. I'm wanting a good trailerable cover for my 66 Skylark. It's what about 16'1" : 70" or 71" Beam. Would the cover from Overton's or West Marine fitting the 75-81 Ski Tique work? Has anyone gotten one of these covers?

Marty, No, not for trailering. The "fits all" within a certain length and beam covers never fit correctly no matter whos cover it is. Spend the bucks and have one made. A Wal Mart cover?? Come on, the Skylark deserves better than that!!!

If you're looking for a great, tight fitting cover for trailering you should look at Rankin Covers. Search the topics for a group purchase thread. They seem to happen a couple fo times a year, but you can do well going direct too.

Their customer service is great. I dropped a clip from a tensioning strap into the water (I use mine on the mooring too) and they sent two out so I would have a spare.

They're expensive but worth every penny in MHO.

Rankin is a great trailerable cover, but they wont have the template for your boat. As of this spring, the oldest CC they have covers for are the 80-81 Ski Nautique. You may have to go custom.

I have a Rankin Cover for my '93 SN. I chose to go elsewhere for my '99 NSS. My two main complaints about the Rankin Covers:

1. Does not cover transom or swim platform
2. Is time comsuming to install and strap tight so that it does not pool water.

The good is that it is indeed well made and trailers well.

I went with a cheaper Sunbrella Cover from here

Several hundred dollars cheaper than Rankin or local Custom.
