just wondering before i bought a small project boat if a chevy car motor could be used. someone told me CC motors turned opposite of what ford car motors turned. i was thinking of buying a ski tique with a blown motor and was hoping i could drop this 305, sitting here i pulled from a car, into it. i planned on swapping exhaust and the rest of the marine outfit onto motor if it would work. just need to know how trans would act if a diff rotating motor was used.

Chad, It doesn't matter the brand of engine regarding the rotation. You have a reverse rotation now and I suggest the same. With the narrow hull of a 70's boat, the prop torque and the weight of the driver will cause the starbord side to really roll down with a standard rotation. The trans pump can be rotated for ether rotation.

yea i was thinking about how the opposite rotating motor would affect the roll on the boat. i figured since mastercrafts rotated opp from CC and they didnt really ride any diff, it wouldnt matter. like i said i havent bought the boat yet and would probably be better off getting a hold of CC motor before hand and keeping it original. thanks

Ive been told that the 2001 and newer hulls have unequal amounts of hook on either side to make them ride perfectly level at skiing speeds (taking the rotation of the prop and driver weight into account). I dont know if this holds true for the earlier models or not.

that makes sense. really i was just thinking of an easy out if i happened to wind up buying the boat. like i said its a tique which is a little smaller and would probably be affected more. but anyways now i know and i appreciate all of the input.
