I got ripped on my Seafoam, by buying it at the freeking marina. I know the family well there and she conned me into buying a can, at the time I was winterizing the boat, and I told the her that I use stabile, but ended buying a can. Freeking 9.99.. for 160z... I am sure Oreily's or Napa has it cheaper than that..

not much cheaper a buck or two tops, Don't do this with the boat in gear, disconnect the cable at the carb and move the lever on the carb manually by hand as you slowly pouring the seafoam in both barrels, usually if you pour in the center of the two barrels it will go into them equally.

I need to also adjust the idle a little. It wants to idle around 800 to 900.

that is too low, in gear idle is 600-650, I would also say your timing is a little too advanced allowing you to set the rpm this low. |

Before I had the carb rebuild last september by my mechanic, my boats idle was around where it was suppose to be. I guess after my mechanic started adjusting the carb he did not move the idle back up where it is suppose to be. Mine idled at 750 and 600 in gear, but when I got the boat back, idle was low. I am going to move it back up where it needs to be. After watching those videos over the weekend on youtube.com, sounds pretty easy to do. It was very windly down here over the weekend, so I did not get a chance to put her in the water. Friday afternoon looking pretty good. |

Chris, Karens motor will idle for hours at 500 in gear.Bring the timing down to +4 or lower and it will idle even lower. The tranny gets a little rattle below 450 but this will do no harm.
When properly set ,carb /base timing, you should get an instant start along with a low idle speed and never touch the throttle .A fast idle speed will mask some idle tune problems, low speed adjustment or incorrect fuel level. Idle speed, about 7mph in gear @ 600, a little fast for docking with out the in and out of gear thing.I prefer to just slow down the idle ,saves wear and tear on it and the idle lope "sounds cool".. |
