My family had a 60’s vintage Correct Craft Skylark when I was younger, so when I finally scraped enough together to buy my first boat I stayed the course and purchased a ’79 Ski Nautique. That boat was all it took to get me seriously hooked into watersports and the ’hobby’ of boat ownership. I started to get more interested in wake sports and the Ski started feeling a bit small, so I decided to make the move into a ’94 Sport Nautique. I had a 1st Gen FCT tower installed on it, started running quite a bit of ballast, added Perfect Pass and then the wakeboarding bug hit me really hard! The intrigue of a wakesports-centric v-drive became overwhelming, so I switched gears yet again and happened upon my (now our) ’01 Super Air. Purchased ’new’ at the end of 2001, she continues to be a great boat and her wake never ceases to put a smile on my face. I’ve done a fair amount of tinkering, including (but not all-inclusive):

added heater
upgraded/changed sound system multiple times
added extra battery, combiner and on-board charger/maintainer
upgraded alternator
added/changed ballast system many, many times
added clear plexi windblock
changed board racks
added surfboard rack
added bimini
added shower...

I’ve had to replace a couple of the seat skins with new vinyl, but over 800 hours later she continues to be a great ride!

The last few seasons I’ve spent working on the trailer a bit. We store the boat in our garage and it’s a relatively tight fit -- 7’ door and 23’ deep. To facilitate getting us out and put away quicker, I replaced the trailer tongue & Titan actuator with a swing-away Pivit hitch (with low profile UFP actuator) and swapped out the original drum brakes with UFP disks. My latest project has been trying to mitigate corrosion so I’ve replaced most of the carpet with king starboard, and am currently working on patching rust/replacing bunks. Hopefully the latest round of trailer changes will get us another few years!
