Are these custom skins on this '86? I'm really interested in this boat, just looks odd to me but I'm just learning.

I wouldn't call them custom. They have been reupholstered, and it looks like someone did the work themselves. None of it looks taut. BKH

What makes it look like it has sat for a while?
Thanks, Chris

Looks like the skins were redone in the late '90's when the whole Martha Stewart 'slip cover' look was in full rage.

RainDog I'll bet you are correct. It was my first impression too that the original skins are still under the "slip" covers!

It looks like someone's Grandma broke out the ol' Singer for her favorite Grandson.
If the owner thought this looks better than the orignal skins, I'd hate to speculate what is underneath. Fugly is right. I'd budget new upholstery on this one. |

If I piss on the carpet, is that considered "custom"?

Good subject for a poll:-
Original and dropping to bits v's crappy resto. Think I'd go for orig and dropping to bits. |

Looks like those skins had liposuction and awaiting the final clean-up surgery.
That masterpiece could probably be cleaned up by a skilled upholstery guy and get some use out of them. |

The motor didn't look so hot either. All the discoloring on the intake and all. Would definitely not take anyones word on it's running condition with out a test drive and some other major checks.
The skins look well lets be polite and leave it at not good. I would have to say I agree, give me the original falling apart skins. |

Hey, if anyone is really interested in this one I can take it look at it for you. It is just up the road from my house on the same road as my boat storage. Just let me know!

Greg, would you mind? I'm over here in B'ham and can't get over there this weekend. I can live with having to replace the skins if it's mechanically ok.
Although, with all of the good natured ribbing that would come with them, might have to leave them for a while. :-) You can email me direct if you want; freemanca@gmail.com thanks, chris

I love the pimp-style trailer wheels. I'd lower the suspension, get some neon lights for the trailer and get your pimp hand on. Boomchickabaouuuuuu. Order up some new wheels!!! Seriously, good luck with it, a little TLC would help. Not a bad starter boat.

I hadn't even noticed that. I could put some spinners on them and roll through down town. Maybe some hydraulics too. :-)
We'll see what happens, having hard time finding a day to get over to Atlanta. chris |

For $6,000, you'd expect things such as the home-installed skins and aftermarket wheels. Otherwise, you'd expect to pay $9K-$11K. I'd offer $5,000 and have them check the compression while you're there.....if you get a chance to get there.
