In the second picture, there's what looks like some old "arn" (as they call it on OWWM!) in the background. I sort of looks like a badsaw but I don't think it is. What is it?

Thanks Pete, well spotted on the "arn" its a Sagar pad sander, and you know you've done some work if you have to hand crank the bed up and down.

Sager? Is that an English piece? All I hear about on OWWM is the Wadkins equipment.

Pete, there were lots of wood working machine builders, specialising for different industry’s Wadkin became the biggest by buying up many of them after the WW11 J,Sagar was one, as my pad sander is Sagar it put it pre 1955 so it’s not doing too bad has a 7ft bed and can lower 2ft under the belt, the old English “arn” we have in the shop White 7x4ft hand screw press, Schubert 8x4ft press, Interwood 10x5ft press, Wadkin chain/chisel , 5 head tenoner, band saw, over head pin router.

My guess is a board room table for the spray gun mfg'r. I bet it was a toss up between the custom table or a chopper. Seems everybody's got a chopper in the lobby these days but that table is crazy.
