Looking for a boom for my '90 Nautique. I've seen used ones go in the $200-250 range.

Any particular reason you want the contour? The straight ones work great on our boats and are easier to store.

No particular reason, just didn't know if the taper effected it. Sounds like a straight one will work better. Thanks

What taper? CC pylons (at least from the late 70's forward) are 2.5" top to bottom.

Isn't there a slight taper at the top, I'm probably wrong. Haven't seen my boat in months. Thanks for the good info, some of us need it.

Only the top inch or so- it wont come anywhere near where you mount the clamp.

Thanks a bunch Tim. Now I can make a more educated purchase, hopefully before next season so the kids can start skiing.

I love the BI's, but we had a Casad that was nearly identical in design that treated us well for 20 years. I also had an ECI for a short time that was pretty cool- it wasnt solid like the BI/Casad, but seemed sturdy enough and had a nice clamp design... so dont limit your options! $250 would be a good price- keep checking craigslist because shipping can get expensive.

A boom is definitely a great investment- one of the must haves if youre ever going to teach anyone to ski or barefoot, especially kids. Ive taught more people than I can count.

Josh, still looking for a boom? I may be selling a Casad (same black/yellow as pictured above) with a BI clamp soon. Shoot me an email if youre interested: TRBenj@gmail.com
