Mark,
Has your friend gotten any interest from your first posting of his Gray engine? The 4's don't move that fast. There are a lot of them around as most repowers use larger engines.

He may get more interest advertising in a more specific classified like Classic Boating Magazine.

That was also posted in the Interesting Online ads thread. It's Jake's (Silver15) old boat. I'm sure he can expand on its condition a little more in detail than I can, but the current owner has only had it about a year or less.

If not, it is good that he's selling it so it can hopefully find a new home with someone that knows what it is.

Jake, $5k seems like a great price for a Silver Nautique or even a 1986 SN in general. What can you tell us about the boat? Is the gel still in good shape? Specifically the flake?

The engine ran great when we owned it. No major problems there. The interior skins and carpet were replaced a few years back and was kept under lift ever since. The biggest catch is that the bottom of the boat is in rough shape. Lots of blistering... would probably need to be gelled on the bottom side. It has black bottom paint on it. The flake was still in decent shape as far as I could tell. Could use some cleaning up or buffing (however you address that). I never explored the stringers, so I couldn't tell you much about their condition. They never gave us any problems. The trailer is in roadworthy shape...probably still needs some new tires. It would make an excellent project boat. All items are there and has low hours. Like I said, the guy uses it all the time so it must still be running good from a mechanical perspective.

For thousands of years men have felt the irresistible urge to go to sea, and many of them died. Things got better after they invented boats.

Dave,
There were probably 100 guys back then making small marine engines. It looks like and early one (before 1920) since it has the preheat chamber off the side. Go to oldmarineengine.com and you'll see some great examples of the many early engines.

Chris,
The price was probably just a guess or the seller has been to some old engine shows!

Chris, didnt you know the TS6m option in 87 included hide away bow seating and a sideways 4 cylinder V drive that allowed extra storage in the clamshell at the center of the boat?

I was wondering how the gear reduction would work for getting power from the clamshell to the sterndrive on the transom that seems to be hidden under the platform. Must be some sort of low profile mount?

Funny you mention her. I was thinking about her the other day, wondering where she went. Maybe she ran out of pictures. Did any one tell her you don't have to post a picture of yourself to post a comment?

Just like other women before her, she comes here, uses and abuses us then casts us out like yesterday's news.
