Doing some research bc the spray adhesive we used on the vinyl covered scoops is giving us trouble. Should have done more research the first time. We used 3M M77 on some of them. When in the sun WITH the cover on, the heat affects the bond. Frustrating to say the least. If there is one part of this project that drove me to drink, it was these *&^*$*%# scoops.
Just got off the phone with 3M. M77 is heat resistant up to 110 deg F. 08090 (marketed as Auto Trim high strength and heat resistance) is up to 190-200. It is $25 per can and marketed to prof and industrial. They said the Rubber and Vinyl 80 is the same stuff (200 deg F), it is just marketed to homeowners…$13.67 at the Home Depot (also sold elsewhere but there you go Pete!). Will let you all know how it goes (not looking forward to doing those scoops again so it will be some time). Hope this research helps someone. |

I'll add the the earlier Ski Nautiques with the curved windshields to the list. I love the one that is on the first page of the 1968 brochure. Solid red with a white boot stripe.
The coosa board concept is interesting to me. |

Let me count thy ways:
Reverse gel skier 73-74 SN w blue and red graphics 80-81 SN Barefooters are interesting That 2nd gen could be cool. Pics? And many others. Think a skier, SN or barefoot will be next. Like the mustangs too but they have so much more upholstery. We made a run at the SN sister to our boat on the site a few weeks ago in NJ but someone beat us to it. |

So is the boat finished, is this how it ends? It all seems anti- climatic. Like a date with Quinner or so I have heard. .
Oh well, not sure what thread we will watch next winter. Maybe something will come along. I sure hope so. |

I found the exact duplicates on ebay per David. No need to grind them - that's how I roll!!

When we did the dealer prep it was only one person to install the windshield and line up the t-bolts. I have used the bolts that are used to hold down a toilet just grind them down a bit.

Think the ebay seller was one size. They worked. Our foam was barely wider than the windshield frame (.75” if memory serves). Frankly we could have used a flat foam of the correct width and been just fine. I think the goal is just to keep the metal from rubbing on the gel.

Susan,
The truss head is large enough so you can grind flats on the sides to mimic the T head. |

ok, I'm not a stupid person but I'm just not getting this.. the truss head screws are way too fat to thread...or are you saying to buy these and grind them down? I'm waiting to see what David says - i like the idea of buying the T-bolts if they work "as is".

Susan, Here's a truss head machine screw: I'd suggest a 10-32 and they are available all the way to 3" in length from McMaster.in 18-8 SS. Get the SS nuts with built in lock washers from them as well. |

ok, can you confirm the width of the foam you got. I ordered from Christine's Marine and i think it's going to be too wide - may be more hassle than it's worth to cut it.
Which size t-bolts did you buy? Did they thread in without any additional grinding? |

We bought the foam from Nautiqueparts. It is a bit short (8ft) but don’t worry it will stretch a bit. And I bought the stainless Tbolts from the seller on ebay, grandmarine123. I made an offer of $10 for 12 bolts and he was good to deal with. Was planning to only use 2 and keep the rest for the future but we ended up replacing all old bolts. When you lay the foam on the hull, line it up with a couple of extra bolts to make sure it will hit right under the windshield. Also, mark the hole locations with tape so you can line up your bolts in the track as you put it back on. We did it as a two man job. Three people would have been awesome. Two to hold the windshield and one to line up bolts. We also had packing blankets around to rest the windshield on while lining up. Again, 3 people and we wouldn’t have needed blankets

Wow , they look nothing like the originals. Are you talking about these screws (similar to the elevator screw) that bolts the windshield onto the boat?
