Here is my tow and Python package! I use a gold Trailblazer to match my Masters colors 1999 Ski Nautique. I need to add some Correct Craft stickers!

When we were at the hight of ski Flying Ford and PCM approached us and let us know that the 351w was no longer in production. At the time we were using Python equipped Ski Nautiques for Ski Flying. PCM Marinized A 5.4 Lightning motor and sent it down to me while I was still in the R&D shop at Correct Craft. I shoe horned it into the boat you see above, installed duel exhaust and numerous extra gauges (EGT,Boost) and installed a tall Pylon. The boat above pulled the current world ski Fly record out at OWC that still stands today at 299'. We eventually built two of these as we had to have a back up boat. The picture was taken on the hill above the Pavilion at Callaway Gardens. It is my understanding that this boat now resides in Mich and it still has the supercharged Lighting motor in it, it belongs to a ford executive. Horse Power approched 575 top end RPM was 6200. The problem with current Ski Nautiques is the harder one try's to make them go faster it takes a whole lot more HP. The boats push harder in the bow the faster one try'to go. This boat ran on radar 61MPH and started to get real loose in the rear. The next Generation 2002 Ski Nautique we used a Supercharged Six liter that was over 600hp and I ground out the cup where the hydro gate is today and the boat went 67 mph on gps. Those were the fun day's working with the HotRod Nautiques. Jody |

Was that the boat they had at Sea World Orlando in November of 2000? They weren't using it in the shows, just blasting around in it between the shows. You could hear it all over the park.

Yes it was out their for Dealer Meeting as Sea World would cater some of our Dealer Meeting extravaganzas, For me the Ski Fly program was a lot of fun. |

This is what I have on the Python 502 and 496! Mine ended up as a display boat at the Chicago boat show and was then purchased by the owner of Son-Water-Sports (Kevin) who sold me the boat with about 130 hours on it. It was also the demo boat for the dealer convention in Orlando. I would guess that it was broken in hard. From what I have been told that was not a bad thing! Mine still has less than 300 hours! We use the boat mostly for barefooting and slalom skiing. I stopped in at Correct Craft to ask some more questions about my boat while on vacation in Florida. What they told me was that only about 11 or so 502's with the 8.2 L engines were placed in the Ski Nautiques. The rest were mostly placed in V-drive Super Sports. In 1999 they under-rated the horse power to 430 at 500 plus foot/pounds of torque! A person from (then) Southeast CC said that Correct Craft did this often throughout the years for the 351 and 350 engine too! There thought was that the 502 engine was closer to 475 hp? Somewhere between 2000 and 2001 the Python became a 496 with an 8.1 L engine. I have no idea why? I was also told that adding horse power would not be difficult with this big block design. I have an airguide 0-60 speedometer that shows mine getting 55, 56 and a great day at 57 mph without any additions to the engine.
My question would be, "why did they not add horse power to the python instead of switching to the Lightning engine if added horse power was required?" Also does a gps system read a lower speed than the Airguide speedometers or does it read higher? I have included information on the Python from the PCM Performance report! Page one Page two |

I drove the '03 SN with the supercharged 6.0 Liter. I remember being at 55mph on the speedo and the throttle was only half way down. The lake was too short to go WOT!
That had to be the fastest Nautique ever made! |

The super charged 5.4 SN has been in MIch. I have seen it in person, while skiing on our local lake. I knew something was different about it when I heard it pull out of of the hole. I chance to check it out and talk with the guy for a few. He said he was just out with his friends, but, I don't think the boat stays in my area. As I have not seen it since, or we are just never out at the same time.

Thanks SkierOX for posting my family picture of the 72 Nautique and '78 Van. I did find a color photo of the rig together before my Dad updated to the '79 graphics on the side. This photo was scanned in off of a color slide so it doesn't look as clear as it should.

Those older phone guy's had money to burn I'd say. He's got more money tied up in the rig's than his "house" in the back ground. How have you been John? Must be busy, have not seen you on here much lately |

'Had' money to burn is the operative word here. Actually the "house" in the background is now owned by my friend Wayne...was originally owned by my brother. Me and Patti have one almost like it accross the street. I am standing in our yard taking the pictures. The houses are 1 bedroom manufactured homes in the campground above Norris Lake. Beats a tent. Had some company and been kinda busy. Lurked a bit. Saw that you guys are still in snow. john |

Hey John,
Gotta love those old Broncos huh! Not sure what it was about them, but they were pretty neat trucks (Just couldn't keep the rear from rusting out in the N.E.!). I've got an Expedition & F150 now, that I love, but just not quite the same. |

No doubt about it Scott...if they were still making Broncos I'd still be driving them. Had 3...each one matched a different boat. At one point me and my brother had matching Broncos to go along with our red boats. Gotta dig out some more old pictures. Had to laugh at your comment on the tailgate! All mine rusted out..were fixed and rusted again. I keep my vehicles pretty clean but there was just nothing you could do. Still...nothing better to tow with, cruise around in, or travel with. john |

Okay John, here are two from last year, when I picked her up and the first time on the ramp.
I'll have to make some new pictures when season starts and she comes out of the garage... |

Kapla, were you able to launch with that little car or just take the car and boat out for a little spin on the road?
