Hi all,
When draining my v-drive the plug on the back 'pinged' off after half a turn. Looks like the hole is either threaded or the plug itself is at fault. The plug itself is pretty crusty at the bottom and i'm thinking this might be preventing it from catching. Anyone know what size this plug is? This is the one on the rear of the unit and is slightly larger. I read 1/4" NPT but wanted to double check. Hope this makes sense - typing in a hurry! D. |

This is the drain plug for the water by the way - just in case there's any confusion!

1/4" NPT will be about a 1/2" hole. 3/8" will be about a 5/8" hole. Get a tap and chase the threads. I suggest using a brass plug as a replacement.

Yes, that will work. All you want to do is clean up the threads so when it gets tight, go about one more revolution. If you go too deep, the taper will make the female threads too large. I suggest replacing the plug with a brass plug. |

Thanks Peter. |
