I've got a ton of old ski photos and thought it would be fun to post them!

Here is an old Correct Craft (anyone know what it is?)

My Dad Orrin Augensen after winning a trophy for tricks in 1967(notice his homemade trick skis! Pauly-Banana called them the Augensen3000!

What's with the trimming of the binding up by the toes on one side?

Cool pictures!

The old CC in question is a 1st gen Ski Nautique... probably a 65-67 judging by the steering wheel and bow light. With that motorbox, I bet it was Chrysler powered.

I think the bindings were suppose to be custom fit. Left and right foot only. There was a local guy that used to make them, Bill Kosloski. (Not sure if I am spelling his name right).

I guess the boat does look like similar interior that Pauly had in his '68. Just looks different without the windshield.

The giveaway is the raised character lines on the bow of the boat. 1st gen for sure.

Is that an orange '72 promo? It looks more like a yellow '71 promo with the cursive lettering on the side.

Not sure about the color. It could go either way! These were scanned into my computer from old color slides. They have been sitting in albums for years!

No problem, everyone has a beginning point! I love the chair inside the 1972 for watching off the boom. Great pictures, the colors look really good for the age of the pictures!

Also, I like my life vest better than the orange one that you got stuck with!

I have Pauly and Marilyn working on theirs!

Here's me getting up behind the 77 SN, in probably 87. Incidentally this lake is VERY close to the lake we currently have property on in Eagle River.

Here's the crew, the old man on the transom. Circa 1987. This boat is responsible for all of this CC sickness. This boat was Chevy powered (I remember the "OMC" risers) and was the Chain Skimmer's show boat in 77 or 76. Belonged to family friends who stayed in Eagle River all summer and had all of their kids in the ski team, all original 'Skimmers.

Now I see, what I thought was the arm from a seat is the pylon ring finger! Ouch! True how could a chair really fit in that area! Everything seemed bigger back then, because we were smaller!

I posted this video a few years ago in BKH's "first boats" thread. It also has some skiing in it and I guess its been long enough to allow a "repost"
No show skiing and predates our 66 mustang...but still, some old days ski footage.

Where did you find that Adam? Boy is that old! Dennis looks to be about 10 (40 now) and yeah my hair looks brown..still long tho.

Our club, The West Shore Water Ski Club used to do a icebreaker every year. Always cold and windy. We would hit Lake Erie as close to April Fools day as we could. Always good for tv and newspaper coverage.

Man I got loads of these kind of old pictures. Just need to figure out how to scan them in.

16 mm. About 15 years ago my dad transferred about 6 hours of old movies from the 30s, when he was a kid, to the 60s to VHS, narrated them and put the music in. They have since been transferred to DVD.

Thats awesome! When my Dad passed away in '03, my sister took all of the 8mm film and had them transfered onto DVDs and added music. They turned out really good. I think 3/4 of the videos my dad took were all skiing! I have a ton of old photos that I would like to make a slide video on DVD.

man great pics there!!!
mine old pic will show my dad´s boat outboard with a 2strokes jonsohn engine 175hp from the 80´s ha that sucker liked the gas..and oil of course. I had it till 95..
first nautique I ever saw and ride behind actually it, was the one I own now. I remember falling in love with it the first time I saw it that was around 96. Good for me I was able to buy it a couple of years later after a few attemps....
prior to the wakeborading boom only a few skiers had MC or SN. With the raise of this new sport people got interested and by mid 90´s people started buying this kinda boats....
My nautique despite being +17 years, still is a head turner...

not so old pics about 7 years ago at the podium after wining one of the locar championship stops held in Cordoba

My dad made that boom from hollow aluminum pipe to teach us kids how to ski. Never pulled alot of weight until about 1979 when we started trying to barefoot. The first time we tried to barefoot with the boom, it bent. We put a steal pipe inside and it worked great after that! "No one ever got injured during the use of this product"!!! Ha Ha

Honestly, I am not sure. If I had to guess, I would have to say Brett Wing. We had an old barefoot book of his and it had a similar type of looking boom. He used to live for skiing just like I am and he was always working on something with boats and skiing!

Well im sure someone had the original idea and they probably never got to capitalize on it ,with all the brainiacs here im sure we all have made or built something for our boats or our sport and never gave a second thought about putting a patent on it.

Very cool shot. That boat I believe was sold to the Solberg family here in Madison as they had a blue one. They sold it to a high school friend and eventually it was traded in to a local Mastercraft dealer. From there it turned into dust as I cannot find anything on it anymore. Can you make out the Registration #'s on it ? JR's red/white/ and blue trimmed boat did have a 454 in it.Keep the pics coming.

Keep 'em coming!

Like the shot of the red/white&blue flat wing. Our Club had one identical. Spent a few hours flying and crewing it!

Now why would that be...'cause the word 'old' is in the title of the thread?
I might have a few that would be of interest here...problem is I don't know how to scan them onto the computer.
I'm just glad our IT guy took pity on me and did a house visit so I coulgd get back on.

We use to have a lot of fun building pyramids. Here is a picture of The Ski Broncs back in 1991 when we won the Show Nationals. I am 4th over from the right and my wife is 3rd high on the left in the 4 high! Great memories!

I have some 1964 8mm footage.   Not tournament or ski show, just family vacation.
My Dad towing eight skiers with my Uncles 18' Crestliner w/ a 160hp I/O.
Took a few minutes to get everyone out of the water.
It has been transferred to VHS, I'll see if I can get some decent screen shots.

DRCC,

That one looks exactly the same as Skierox's 1984 blue on blue Ski Nautique. It had the same interior design with no coaming pads. Wow, really cool, even the prop had not been installed yet shown in the picture. Scott sold his 1984 to buy the 1999 Python. Back to Brant's 1989 Ski Nautique. Skierox and Skierbrant have a video documenting the day that Brant purchased his 1989, really fun to watch. They had perfect weather with awsome company, Orin and the Zman (the seller of his 1989) plus Brant and Scott. I sure wish that I could have been there that day. Scott will never forget when Brant's dad thanked him for finding this beautiful black, yellow and gray Ski Nautique! Money well spent!

You bet, Brant has a really sharp head turning boat. Something about that color combination! Also, the boat really handles and drives nice. Brant really has that boat dialed in for holding speed! I have had a blast pulling Brant and Scott and their family's with his 89!

DrCC, great pictures of your 1974, looks perfect. Tells us a little more about that boat! Glad to see that you kept the chrome horns!

Nice looking boats! I almost bought an '84 identical to yours. Went to pick it up, and the guy backed out! I'm glad to have my '89! Much happier with the '89.
You have done a great job keeping the '74 in excellent condition!

Thanks for taking the time to share all these great photo's and stories!

I have some old video, my Dad and his bro's skiing as teenagers, me and my bro's skiing as little kids and some other stuff. Had it converted from 8mm to DVD, now I just need to figure out (and find the time) to get some of this stuff on You Tube, Photobucket or whatever?

Growing up we never had an opportunity to ski on an organized show team so we just made our own, we did a show at our annual picnic for our lake community, here is a newspaper article dating back to 1976.

No CC tow boat for us, just an all wood boat, can't remember the brand, with an 85hp OB, broom stick ski handles and ski belts, LOL.

Wisconsin Dells right across from the Tommy Bartlett Show back in the '70s. We used to rent a cabin for $100/week! Now it is a Hotel! Pauly-Bananas '68 is parked behind the orange one!

Ryan, isn't that over near Down the Hatch?

What years did you live there? Our family has had a cabin on Candlewood since the 40's, we spent our summers there just about every year growing up.
