My 95 Ski Nautique has red 1/2" pinstriping above and below my black gelcoat stripe. I tried to remove it and it is nearly impossible. It removes the red color but leaves white tape. If I remove the with tape underneath it removes the middle but leaves behind small with strips on the top and bottom. Any safe chemicals that will remove the tape without damaging the gelcoat?

Did you heat it with a hair dryer or heat gun?

I thought this might help, but now I see it's not for plexiglass.Call them and see if it will work on fiberglass.

Funny stuff. The sign guy who decals our vans tried it tonight. It kicked it's ass and he walked away scratching his head. It removed the bulk of it but will not remove the outer edges. I will most likey take that route but any other suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks,

AC.

Try Citra Solve. Rub it on, let it sit a couple minutes and scrub gently with Scotch bright. I do a short section at a time, maybe six inches to a foot. Then clean or polish with something els.
This has worked for me on the older boats.

3M makes an adhesive residue remover spray. I know of at least one person who has used it on a gel coated ski boat with good results when nothing else would work. He reported no bad reactions with the gel or fiberglass and said it worked like a charm.

All the vinyl pinstripe is off. Had a buddy who installs vinyl. He has a special pinstripe tape removal tool. A yellow rubber wheel with notches in it. Worked great. Let the tool do the work. Used rubbing/polishing compound to get out the rest. Make sure to by one safe for gel coat. Ugly red vinyl tape all gone!!!!
