We are leaving our beloved slalom course on board Camp Lejeune, NC this summer and are looking for a good ski family to take it over. The course is on public water in Wallace Creek which is an offshoot of the New River. We inherited the course from another Marine who also had to leave on orders who inherited from yet another. It is in perfect condition and is only a 2 minute drive from the marina on base. We hope to be back to the area some day, but are hoping to find someone to enjoy it and keep it up in the time being. With the tides and summer storms it does require some attention to keep all the buoys in place.

Since it is on public water, you won't have to have access to the base to get to the course. You can put the boat in the water in Jacksonville and drive down stream a few miles and take a left into Wallace Creek. Go under the bridge (take the tower and bimini top down) and you're there.

Who handles the liability for the course? If some kid gets strangled on a buoy line while tubing through the course (obviously a purely hypothetical situation), who would be liable? Just curious.

The course is in public water. No government affliiation. This isn't a club or anything official at all. We're just looking for a ski family that would like to benefit from an already established slalom course that we are leaving behind. Lawyers please don't apply...

To answer your question, the liability is yours alone.
