My Uncle and I just purchased a used 1998 176 from New England Correct Craft.

I’ve been thinking about a 176 for a while. Until we redo it, our garage in Maine limits us to a 176. Craig called me to let me know he was taking a 176 in trade and wanted to know if I’d be interested. After just going out and buying a new car I wasn’t in the market for a boat, but I couldn’t pa$$ up what Craig had to offer… Thankfully my Uncle was able to go in on the boat with me.

As I mentioned, it is a 1998 Ski Nautique 176. The colors are grey primary stripe and black secondary stripe with teal accent tape on the hull. The interior is black and grey with white piping. It only has 119 hours on the motor. I should point out that, instead of the 351 PCM Carb w/ 260hp, this 176 has the GT-40 w/ 310hp! The boat has a 4 blade prop… The trailer has brakes and a swing tongue…

Needless to say, my uncle and I are really looking forward to next year!

Right now I’m hanging on to the Skylark. I’d like to get it over to Craig and see what he can do to help refurbish it.

A HUGE thanks to Craig Warner at NECC for thinking of me and taking care of my uncle and I on this boat!

I'll try attaching a couple of shots...

Congratulations, Kyle! What a beauty. That thing must have some get-up-and-go with the GT-40 engine. I can't wait to see it in the spring. Got to love Craig.

Congrats 66, I would think that 17=6 would be a fun boat; it's about the same size of our old nautique.
I hope you are able to keep the old cla$$ic too!

What a cool little boat. That boat is basically just a flotation device for the GT40! I bet it really hauls.

That's awesome, congrats! I've never seen one of those in person, but I've always admired the pics. It should definitely be a rocket!

Hey, I want one of those motors in my 16' skier! Great looking ride 66. Spring can't come soon enough when you buy them this time of year!

Thanks to all...

Mike,
I'm hoping to (someday) put a stereo in this one like you had in the Air Tique!

Craig priced it out for me, but I'm going to have to hold-off for now...

Kyle

Does anyone know the top end of this rocket? I would guess you'd push 48+MPH with the GT-40 package.

I would guess 48-50 with the GT40 on that little boat without much of a problem. According to the ref section, it only has a 90 lb advantage over the standard SN, but less wetted surface should give it a few more MPH.

Sounds good! That boat looks mean with the large engine cover. Must be pretty nimble on the water. My 1980 was the same length and had a sports car feel. Shorter bow. April can't come quick enough!

I had a 1996 176 and loved it, we only are allowed 18 foot boats on our lake so it was perfect, it had a 3 blade and topped out at 46 mph, i miss the boat, the only thing i didnt like was the look of the front windshield    eric

The one I had was sold by NECC to someone in Conn. or N.Y. I think and I was told due to H.P. restrictions they were stripping it of the 351 and installing a 4 or 6 cyl.Had to be under 190 hp.Boat only had 125 hours on it.I guess people will do anything to own a CC

66Skylark, If you think about selling that Skylark, email me. We spoke to each other when you first listed it here. I know the boat from driving by it over the years.
