1997 Gt-40, 1400 hours starts up fine cold. Occasionally when hot will only start with some considerable throttle. Fuel pressure when this happens appears to be about 40 PSI at the fuel rail shraeder valve. Ideas? Thanks!

As with anything like this there could be a few issues. Just a guess and as something to check, I know that the as the injectors age they can start to drip after shutting down, sometimes quite a bit. This could in essence "flood" the engine and opening the throttle at startup, while pumping more gas in, will also allow much more air and possibly get the mix close enough to start. Something to check anyway.
