Got a 1994 SN196 with the Mallory Dizzy conversion on it from the duff Protec box.

Can some give me some metre readings please..

Both sides of the Ballast Resistor.

Back of the ignition key.

I seem to be suffering with a good bit of voltage drop (ignition on engine not running). Im 12.6v at the starter relay. One side of the ballast is 10V other is 8.4V. Meter on dash drops pretty sharply soon as you turn any thing on .

Cheers

I can't quote voltage readings, but if the boat has PerfectPass speed control system on it, the motor draws a lot of amperage off the ignition circuit and pulls the voltage down. If no PP, check the main ground wire AND the main + wire going from the engine to the dashboard. Chances are you will find corrosion in the 8-prong plug at the right rear of the engine. Unplug it and clean both the male prongs and the female receptacle. (A rolled-up piece of sandpaper works well on the recep.) Also check for loose nuts and/or bad crimps in the daisy chains under the pod. I suggest you check voltages with the engine running at idle.
