As you make your final plans for Green Lake, here is a short list of things not to forget:

  • All proper safety equipment (life jackets, fire extinguisher, etc.)
  • Copies of boat and trailer registration documentation
  • Anchors (bring two if you have them)
  • Extra bumpers (for tying up to other boats)
  • Water sport equipment (ropes, skis, boards, BF suits, tubes , etc.)
  • Two-way radios (we’ll have a designated GMRS/FRS channel we’ll use for the weekend.)
  • Bug spray

  • Sunscreen
  • First Aid Kit

  • Asprin
  • Alarm clock (campers)

  • Camera

See you guys next week!

Listen to the man, people. Because of the wet weather we've had, the mosquitoes are pretty damn aggressive.

  • Is this just any kind of "walkie-talkies" from wal-mart, or wherever?

Sounds like they must be of the GMS/FRS bands. Not all walkie-talkies have this band.

You find some transmit out a lot farther than others. I just got a Motorola from Radio Shack. Price was around $70.00. You can find them for less; but, they have less distance.

If I remember correctly, cell service was accually pretty good on the lake. Dave or Steve?

I use GMRS/FRS radios out on the water a lot and find them to be much easier to use then a cell phone - especially when talking one-to-many. I'm not saying they are necessary but if you have some, bring them along.

Yes, you can get GMRS/FRS radios at Wal-Mart.

This is really a separate discussion but if you were making the investment, I personally recommend the Midland GXT710VP3 or GXT800VP4(waterproof).

    Steve,
I get in on Thursday afternoon. I should be in Green Lake just in time to head over to RainDog's.

Cell phone service is pretty good. Of all the services I've had, Verizon has been the best in GL.. No onw should have a problem..
