Many people use oven cleaner to remove paint from gel. Be sure to wipe and wash thoroughly after use. BKH

The active ingredient in oven cleaner is nothing more than lye, aka Sodium Hydroxide. I frequently buy Red Devil lye drain cleaner, mix it in water and soak painted house hardware for a day or two. Usually takes it down to bare metal.
You might be able to mix up batch to paste or gel consistency to use on your boat and save a bunch of money. Use gloves, eye protection, blah, blah, blah... |
