My boat has a dripless shaft seal. I've been led to believe that bleeding air from the seal and occasional "burping" of the seal is necessary to insure proper seal function.
Can anyone here discuss the technique of "bleeding" the air out of the seal and how to go about "burping" the seal?

Thanks for your attention.

Lars

are you that Lars guy from Metallica? JK
anyways i never heard of burping a dripless and by the response of your post i really dont think any one else has, im curious, its a carbon seal that needs constant water on it and i dont know if any air could get up in it, as soon as you fire the engine you have light water pressure going right to it, thats the most important thing is the water flow to it.
