83 351 commander and need to know how to wire alternator. Orange, red, green, and Black wires and do not know where they go ... help anyone

green-field
brown-red -aux
orange-power-positive
black-ground
on the back of the alt. there should be markings by each stud.   good luck

I understand what the wires are but the alternator's markings were sandblasted off during the rebuild. I'm looking to find out which is the field terminal and which is the battery post on the alternator

i have a alk6220y presto alt. with the small threaded ear at 12:00 looking at the back of the unit the positive is at 9:00 at 1:oo is the field wire at 4:00 is the aux. stud and the ground is at the bottom in a female threaded hole   i have a 78 southwind hope this helps

the positive is also the larger of the studs if your clock position is different than mine and the aux. is on the diode plate across from the pos. stud
