Never been behind a Moomba, but I've always heard they are like a Kia.....nothing necessarily wrong with them, but a good example of getting what you pay for. Again, no personal experience, but without question, I would hold out for a Nautique. That way, you know your money bought you the best inboard out there. Just my .02

If you buy a Nautique, properly valued, between 8 and 15K, you will not lose much money on it over 5 years. If you buy a moomba for 15K, I can almost guarantee that it will be worth less than 8-10K in 5 years.

I don't know that I'd shy away from a 92 for 6K. BKH

If the 92 is in decent shape and the floor feels solid to walk and jump on, 6k is a deal.

moomba=dodge neon. of course if you were on the moomba board (is there one?) asking about CC, you'd probably get some line about how over priced CC's are and how dollar for dollar the moombas are the best. It would be bs though.

What the worst case scenario on the '92, the floors need replacing? Does anyone have the "do it yourself cost" as well as the cost to have it done outside? For 6K, it seems like you have some room to play with.

....listen to these guys...they are giving good advice. I'm sure you've heard that expression, " I'd rather push a ______ than drive a _______." You can insert Ford/Chevy in either blank, whatever your choice, but I've towed my neighbors 2 year old Moomba back to our boathouse twice this past summer....he hasn't made any more comments about my 26 year old Nautique. The quality just isn't there like the CC's.

I don't think whether the boat will will be running is the issue. My neighbor has a 91 Moomba (first year) and it is still running. As far as I know, Moomba is using Indmar motors which are used in several brands of inboards, and seem to enjoy a good reputation.

I think the boat breaks down in upholstery, instrumentation, carpet, etc. The Moomba will not hold its value the as well as a CC, MC, or Bu. BKH
