I'm learning that the '93 was the first year of the 100% fiberglass hulls and that the '92, and earlier, had quite a bit of wood in the decks and other areas. The '93s seem to have the teak swim platform and the '92s a swim platform built into the hull. Are any of these issues to be concerned about when looking for this vintage of SN?

I'm looking for an open bow and I believe that both Ski and Sport Nautiques were available in OB. If not than, yes, I am looking for a Sport OB.

Bob - Welcome to the site. Good to see another NW guy on here. There are a few of us around.
What are you looking to do? It sounds like you want an open bow boat. You can find O/B Ski Nautiques, and also a Sport Nautique model that has an open bow. In the early 90's it is much more common to find a closed-bow boat (see photo of my '93 Ski to the left). The 92 and previous boats do not have a "wood deck". Rather, they have wood support structures (stringers) underneath a fiberglass floor attached to the hull of the boat. If you look around a bit you'll see lots of photos of what it takes to replace these stringers once they are rotten. Try going to the "Maintenance" section and then click through the FAQ. If you go way back I think you'll find wood floors, but it does not sound like you are looking for an antique. We are happy to educate and help! Just ask away. Kevin Lake Stevens, WA |
