I'm considering the purchase of this boat. It has about 1400 hrs. Any suggestions on what to look for besides the floor, stringers and compression?

Also, does anyone know what kind of performance numbers I could expect. We plan to use it for a Show Ski Team. Top speed for multiple barefooters? How many off the dock at once? 10? 12? more?

Thanks

Depends on the prop.
My BFN has the 454 which is a great motor by the way, should still have a lot of life left after 1400 hours if it was taken care of. My BFN Tops out in the high 40s with the original 14-14 oj wheel. Haven't had a chance to try it with my new acme 13-13.
Of a dock start i would assume you could pull 10-12 but have no first hand experience doing so. Deep water start may be a different story.
I say go for it, i would look at the gaskets around the exhaust for corrosion and the hoses and wires, anything that would show sign of it being overheated. burnt paint etc.
lift up all the floor panels and inspect things good.

Depends on how big the guys are, we pulled 6 behind Curtis' BFN which was re-propped, WOT everybody standing we were probably only running 36-38 mph range.
Myself and 1 other were over 200, other 4 probably average of 175 ish

Video is posted on the site somewhere.

Hotboat, you are probably talking about a 90 barefooter with a big block correct? The SN may have received the 1.23 to 1 with the big block. If it is true it's probably a hole shot monster.

I was told this boat was originally a Sea World Ski Show tow boat. Probably the reason for the 1:23. But I haven't confirmed the transmission yet. This info is according to the seller.

1.23 debuted in 1989, but I don't recall seeing it on any 1989-1990 big blocks.

Only the v-drives got the big block from 91 on, and those didnt get the 1.23 trans either. Not that the trans couldn't hold together, as it was used on the 99-01 502/496 python direct drives... Just never seen a vintage boat with that combo. Besides, big block + 1.23 reduction probably would warrant a 1-1/8" shaft.

that is correct for that year. but 1989 changed a bit, left hander engines with the 1.23 to 1 tranny wich reversed the rotation keeping the rh prop. Also added the invertraflow muffler wich means single exhaust outlet at the transom...

I called Correct Craft. They had me call Art Kozier. He said most likely this was a Sea World boat and it should have the 1:23 trans and dual steering cables as well as additional bracing on the pylon. I won't have the chance to look at it in person until next week.

If it is a 1.23 I agree with Tim on the 1.125 shaft, check that as well. If it's standard rotation it could have an ho motor. Get a pic of the carb
