So I spent the weekend 're' patching my muffler because of nothing more than ignorance.

Last summer, because I did not want to spend $600 on a new one, I repaired the loose pipe and cracks in my hull hugger. Unfortunately though, becuase I am not a fiberglass guy, I sanded the top before doing the patch and thought I was good. After about 100 hours the new fiberglass cracked away from the original. What didn't cross my mind originally is that the muffler is covered in oil (exhaust residue), so it NEEDS to be cleaned with a solvent like Acetone before any patching so that the new patch work holds.

Just thought I would share to prevent someone else from making the same dumb mistake.
Eric
