Has anyone used this? Looks like a good, simple replacement.

We did a group buy last year. I have the unit, but have not installed it yet. I'm hoping next week to have time to spend on the boat.

I missed the group buy, but since then my digital speedo has went out in my 02 and I don't care for the Faria replacements. I've been waiting / watching for hopefully another group buy on these??

Was the group buy price better than the $329 + shipping?

Yes we can do another group buy at $265.00 plus shipping. Will need to put at least 7 units together.
Let me know.

Single unit sale is $300.00 plus shipping.

Hobby Boats can be expensive when the hobbyist is limited on their own skill and expertise.

I bought one and so far I like it. The kids are skiing/wakeboarding at low speeds and this is much more accurate than the analog Airguides.

Should I even bother fixing my old style speedos on my 86' SN or ditch both of them and replace with one of these Precision Star Gauges?

Thats my question too. My plan is to get the Precisionstar and keep one speedo and the spare for parts.

I have the GPS perfect pass, and I am amazed at how accurate the airguides actually are. Even my old 82 speedos are still very consistent when compared to my gps.

I have a model year 2001 SN. I'm ready to replace my digital speedo and tach. I thought that my gauges were 3" but the PrecisionStar is listed as 3.5".

Are there really 2 different sizes only a half inch different? I suppose the PrecisionStar won't work in my boat.

Any comments?

The digital gauges in my 02 are 3.5", i always thought the 3.5" was the standard size for speedo and tach up to 2003 when it changed to 5". The only way to be sure is to measure your gauge.

Why not take that 250-300.00 and use it as a starting point for saving for a speed control system (that you can also buy through Jodi)? That seems like a lot of money just to tell you what speed you're going- why not have that AND have the boat drive itself that speed? That just seems like a "tipping point" price between measuring speed and speed control. Lil' devil's advocate action, can't help it some times.

Im planning on both the Precision Star and the star gazer upgrade (for the future). For right now I've got a hole in my dash where I pulled my inoperable digital speedo out thinking I might be able to get it fixed. I've been using my perfect pass for a speedo for a while now, I guess it could be seen as money for overkill but I see it as functionality and besides the Faria replacement kits are $300 and I don't care for those at all. To me it makes sense in my scheme of things.

I don't think you're the only one who would be "devil's advocate" on this topic, I figure pete is throwing up in his mouth every time he sees this thread, with the keep it original thing. However my whole life and employment has run closely with vehicle customization and if there are parts and accessories that provide an improvement over stock then Im all about that, whether its for the boat, truck, or the bike.

I see We have some interest in a group buy. Please send to Floridainboards@msn.com your order and include gauge face color and bezel prefence black or chrome, also gauge size 3.5 or 5 inch. need shipping info including phone number
Will then send out an invoice via e-mail you can pay by check or paypal (paypal please add .04%) currently we are not set up to accept credit cards maybe next week on that.

Steve a StarGazer upgrade if included in this group buy will be $469.00 shipping included.

Mine is black bezel, white face, Just like my gauges. It may illuminate at night but I haven't been out in the boat after dark yet. Miles, or Kilos, a small compass, clock. straight speed or fractional (34.5) Easy insrall easy to use. Just 3 wires, no antenna.
