Hi,
I changed the struts on my '04 Air 216 but because I couldn't read the stats on the existing ones, I bought 40lbs force which are way too weak. They hold up the lids if they're up already, but they can't push them up by themselves. I'm guessing that 80 or 100lbs would work but wanted to ask if anyone knew what the correct force is? Thank you, Louis |

I replaced all of my gas struts on my 2006 216 last year. If it would help you I would be happy to check the #’s on mine tomorrow or Friday and give you the specs.

Thanks to both of you.
If it's not too much trouble, I'd like to know what you put in. |

The link listed in the first reply indicates a 20lb strut for the ski locker. I installed a 40lbs one and find that way too weak. But thank you, the site is good know.

The rear sun pad/ski locker struts on a 216 are 60 lbs. The print stamped on the strut says “ML36 60”.
The label glued to the strut says “ Gas Strut / 17.2 inches 60 lbs. They stay up without issue. I hope that helps |

I also replaced the struts for the engine cover, observer’s seat and glove box.
Let me know if you need those #’s too. |

Also... my in floor “ski locker/cooler” has no strut. It is just a removable carpeted floor panel.
