There are so many of these "Ghost Surfing" videos now that sooner later were gonna get treated to a not so happy ending!
Never seen anything so irresponsible in my boating life as this nonsense....and I've seen things man, and stuff. |

There might be someone in the bow, there might not be. It's still surfing either way...

I didn't know ghost thurfing was popular. I guess thats one way to add some excitement to what appears to be a very boring activity.

From the Ghost Surfers Handbook:
1) Bungee steering wheel to ensure vessel continues in a straight forward path. 2) Operate vessel at minimum fuel level so that in the event of a wipeout, said vessel runs out of fuel before reaching the end of the body of water upon which the vessel is traveling. 3) Operator shall continue taking medications prescribed in the manner and dose indicated, and not abruptly stop such medication unless ordered so by your mental health specialist. |

wow, just watched another video of it where the camera is on the surfer. sure enough, not a soul in the boat. I'm not one to keep the cops on speed dial, but i'm sorry for this stunt, the DNR/CG would be hearing from me ASAP. That doesn't just put the person at risk, but everyone on or around the lake.

Funny. He spent 50K on a boat, another 10K on stereo and equipment. Then his friends said "thurfing sucks go by yourself". This is probably a desperate plea for attention. See you guys it is fun, really. Please come with me!

Alan is right. There are a ton of these videos out there now. I think I know the reason. Surfing is so painfully boring and so not worth dropping over a 100 grand for a boat on, they have to do something to make it interesting. After they master that incredibly challenging, but standard, hold a beer while surfing trick, there's no where else to go. They could try footing or slalom but since those big tubs can't get out of their own way and since the wake is prohibitive and since those two things actually require minimum fitness and skill I guess that won't be happening.

They could try wakeboarding instead. Oh yea! they tried that but the wake was so incredibly huge and intimidating that they were afraid of it and when they finally tried to cross it they sucked so bad that they decided to quit and started surfing instead so they could at least save a little face with all their cool friends watching. But the good news is they don't have to get up early anymore for good water so they get up late surf for awhile then get drunk at the beach and repeat the next day. Works well for those of us that like early morning runs on flat water.

Read the comments. He said someone was sitting by the steering wheel in case he fell.

Came here to say that. ^^^ I don't know if any of you guys surf or not...maybe I hate it because I don't have a ship that has a surf wake but I'm so dang sick of hearing about it. That's all wakeboats are advertising anymore. Surfing's the new tubing IMO. |

I saw one on facebook the other day (think John posted it) with the dude wearing a gopro.
Clearly the boat is empty.... So here is my plan. We wait till we see one of theese tug boats with and idiot doing it, zoom in and enter the boat pirate style... |

You guys need to get more creative. These could be legit "ghost surfers" but probably not. What's to say there isn't a chase boat nearby watching.
I am still laughing at these.
You can keep it boring or challenging, just like any other discipline really. It's just so counter to everything else I like to do that it's really just not worth the effort to me. |
