Correction on the carb supplier identified above, it was not marine carbs for less, it was "National Carburetors".....I think the other was my "search phrase".

Thanks,
Jeff

NEVER use any grease or anti seize! It is the taper of the prop and shaft that transmits the torque to the prop. You what the taper to lock up! It's the reason you need a puller to remove a prop.

SS or brass key is fine.

Ok, Let's twaddle!! Starting over and going back in years, Bruce just mentioned it and I have many times the fact that with flywheel forward engines we end up with a RH engine and prop. With the RH the boat manufacturers put the helm on the starboard side. Why? Now let's go to the engine in the early Higgins. He used inline Chryslers with LH rotation. The Higgins helm is on the port side! Why???

Very interesting 65 American on ebay. It has a LH Universal V6 and the helm is port side!

I don't know Pete, which side is the helm on your Dunphy, and which way does it spin? What about the RH helm outboards?

RH on the rotation and a starboard helm.
Don't forget that outboards and I/O's have always had the little trim tab/zinc on the cavitation plate.

Jeff since it is a Supra you should have the trans gone through because of hull dynamics, the hull on these boats transmits "a" frequency's which is detramenatal to the transmission, the hulls create harmonics like no other boat and will fail the trans pre-maturely and usually to a non rebuildable state...good luck and i wish you the best

Eric,

Regarding the transmission, is that something I can handle if I purchase a "kit" from you or is it more like an automotive trans which I would never touch? What's the typical cost to have it done and who is my best "option" for a rebuild?

If I can do it, where do I buy a kit and what is the proper trans-fluid?

Thanks all!
Jeff
