Lift cost is highly dependent on your location. A good used 3-4k lb manual crank lift (no canopy) fetches $1500 here in the northeast all day long. Used ones come up rarely and don't stay on the market long.
I'm very envious of the Midwest prices... Most seem to be made in wi or mn, so surely that's a huge factor. |

The deal breaker for me may be the move (trailer, permits in two states?!). In some ways, it would be worth it to have new one delivered unassembled.

I have that exact lift and bought a bunk kit to make it SN friendly. I will measure and take pictures tomorrow of my low water example as I just got the docks and lifts in today. Our water is controlled by a dam (for now)and is lowered 3' in the winter. I'll take some pics and post them. |

If this is the lift, and it is too wide, it appears that if you rotated it 90 degrees, it's height, less then it's width now might fit where you don't need permits. Again, this is all a guess, you would have to do actual measuring. But as Tim (TRBenj) said, "Permits???" |

Wayne,
Go back to my UHaul post, I have moved a SS lift that exact way, everything will be in the trailer, it does end up tall but no permits required, guaranteed!! Around here the dual axle open trailer can not be rented one way and only the larger dealers have them, so I did have to pull it round trip, never have had in issue renting UHauls. Good suggestion on purchasing new unassembled, the Shorestations do go together pretty easily. |

Ok, I measured and took pics this morning. My bunk kit is 15" from the base of the cradle to the top of the bunks. The cradle itself is around 5"-6" thick. At the front of the lift, I have just under 22" of water measuring from the foot pad of the lift to the water surface. At the back of the lift, I have just under 31" inches of water measured the same way. With the lift fully lowered I have about 6" of water above cradle.

Everyone, thanks so much for your help! Bad news though, I found out this morning that my wife is going to have to have surgery, which may lead to more surgery and will require long term follow up either way. I had to let the owner of the lift know that I can't make it Virginia this weekend. I wouldn't be surprised if I lose the deposit I gave him to hold the lift.

Yes, best wishes from us as well, everything will be OK is my favorite thought!!
Considering what you got going on, wish Virginia was closer, I would go get your money, the lift or both. |
