I put a brand new GT-40 motor in my Nautique 2 years ago. I ran it once hooked up to a hose for 15 minutes.
That's it. I never ran it again. It's been unused sitting in my garage for the past 2 years. I did drain the gas tank.I want to start using the boat again (finally) I am concerned about starting it up and scratching the cylinders, valves etc since it hasn't been run in such a long time. Can anyone tell me the proper way to get it ready to start? Thank you,
Mike K.

Ok ... I have the answers.

1. (main thing!!) take out old water pump impeller and replace. (The old one has been stuck in the same position for 2 years ... not good)
2. Remove spark plugs and give the cylinders a good shot of fogging oil. (yeah ..it should have been done before ..but at least this will give the upper cylinder walls some lubrication while re-starting)
3. Replace fuel filter in the fuel cell.
4. check all fluids.
5. fill gas tank
6. Start engine ... warm up.
7. drain oil and replace oil and filter.
