have 86 SN2001 - Everything is hooked up the same after the new coil but the tach is not working - any Insite would be appreciated?

Also wanted to add to this post.  The hour meter never worked in the 10 years, i have had the boat.

Is the tachometer signal wire (usually gray in color) connected to the negative ( - ) side of the coil?
